Windows95 setup for PrismWeb.Net

 

Checking for Installed Components

  1. Open the My Computer icon on your desktop, and see if there is an icon (it will look like a folder) that says Dial-Up Networking.
  2. If it is there then skip ahead to the section on Creating the connection.
  3. If it is not there then continue:
  4. Open the Control Panel.
  5. Open Add/Remove Programs.
  6. Click on Windows Setup.
  7. Highlight Communications by clicking on it once.
  8. Click on Details.
  9. If it is not already checked, check Dial-Up Networking,then click OK.
  10. Click OK once more. At this point, Windows95 may prompt you for your Windows95 CD-ROM or Diskettes.
  11. Keep following the prompts until the setup is finished. Windows95 may tell you that you need to shutdown and restart. If so, do this now.

 

Creating The Connection

  1. Open the My Computer icon.
  2. Open the Dial-Up networking icon.
  3. Open the make New Connection icon.
  4. Enter "PrismWeb.Net" for the name of the computer you are dialing.
  5. Your modem should be already selected and appear as selected.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Enter the phone number for PrismWeb.Net.
  8. Click next.
  9. Call the connection PrismWeb.Net.
  10. Click Finish.

 

The PrismWeb.Net Dial-Up Icon is now in My Computer under Dial Up Networking

  1. Highlight the PrismWeb.Net icon by clicking with the right mouse button. A small menu should appear. Click on Properties with the left mouse button.
  2. Take the check out of use "area code and country code".
  3. Choose Server Type.
  4. The type of server should be PPP (Though it might also have a bunch of other options listed in it as well.)
  5. TCP/IP should be checked.
  6. Choose TCP/IP Settings.
  7. Your screen should look like:
  8. Once you have your options set, click OK.
  9. You will be back one menu, so click OK once more.
  10. Once more click the PrismWeb.Net icon with the  right mouse button. After the small menu appears click on the "Create Shortcut" option.
  11. When prompted by the "can not create shortcut here error message just click on "Yes".
  12. Now close dial-up networking and all other windows which may be open.

 

You are now ready to dial in to PrismWeb.Net

  1. Double click on the icon that says "Shortcut to PrismWeb.Net".
  2. Type in the username and password as specified when you signed up.
  3. Click on the "connect" button.
  4. Once dialed into us you are free to explore the internet. So bring up Internet explorer, Netscape, etc...
