How to Setup a Secondary Mail Account under
Netscape Communicator 4.5
Primary Settings
- Make sure the primary account is correctly set up.
- Close all Netscape windows.
- Go to the Netscape folder on the start menu. The default path
is Start/Programs/Netscape Communicator.
- Under the Netscape Communicator folder, go to the
Utilities
folder.
- Under the Utilities folder, click on User Profile Manager.
- The Profile Manager window will come up. The original/primary
account should be on the list. To add a new email account click "New".
- On the follow screen click "Next". On the
following screen...user information is needed. Under Full Name put the full name of
the user's account needed to be added. Under email address put the full email
address (ALL LOWER CASE!!!). Click " Next".
- On the new screen give a Profile Name. This can be
anything. Click "Next".
- On the new screen, "Outgoing Mail Server [SMTP]" should
be mailcity.prismweb.net Click " Next".
- On the new screen, "Mail Server username" should be the
users login name. The "Incoming Mail Server" should be mail.prismweb.net.
Click "Finish".
After "Finish" is clicked Netscape Navigator should open
up. This completes the primary settings. Now it is necessary to clean up a few
loose ends.
Other Settings
- In Messenger or Navigator, have the user click on edit, then
move down to the final option "preferences". This will open a
preferences window
- On this Preferences window the user will see a category list on the
left side and the currently selected category on the right. Make sure you see this
screen.
- There are seven main categories. They are Appearance,
Navigator, Mail & Newsgroups, Roaming Access, Composer,
Offline, and Advanced.
- Click on the second main category, " Navigator".
- Now we are concerned with what is shown on the right side.
Make sure the Navigator category is open.
- Under the option "Navigator Starts With", make sure the
bullet (dot) is next to the option Home Page
- Click "OK"
This can be done for as many profiles as you wish, each with their
own preferences, start pages, and bookmarks.
