Prismweb.net Macintosh 8.X Setup

In your hard disk, double-click on Internet Setup Assistant. (At the end of a Mac OS 8.X installation, if you clicked on the Continue button, the Internet Setup Assistant was automatically launched.) If you didn't fill out the windows then, we will do it now.

If this is the first time you have connected to PrismWeb.Net:

1. click the Register button. This takes you to the Introduction window which explains what the Setup Assistant does.

2. click the right arrow at the bottom of the window. This takes you to the Personal Information window. Enter your First Name, Last Name, and Phone Number in the boxes.

3. click the right arrow at the bottom of the window. This takes you to the Modem Settings window. Scroll down the list of modem types until yours appears; select it (i.e., click on it.) (If the list does not contain the exact modem you have, try choosing one close to it by the same manufacturer or choose a Hayes modem of the same speed as yours.)

4. in the Port pop-up menu, select the port to which your modem is connected. Then select the radio button for either Tone or Pulse dialing.

5. click the right arrow at the bottom of the window. This takes you to the Conclusion window. If your phone requires additional digits to dial your Prismweb.net connection number (for example, a "9" to get outside) enter those numbers now.

6. click Go Ahead. Once the modem successfully connects to Prismweb.net, your browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator) will launch.

If you have previously connected to PrismWeb.Net or another ISP:

1. click the Update button (instead of the Register button). This takes you to the Introduction window. Read the information in the window.

2. click the right arrow at the bottom of the window. This takes you to the Configuration window.

3. click the Add Internet configuration button. This takes you to the Configuration name and connection type window. Type a name for this configuration (use Prismweb.net if you like). Since you are using a modem, click the Modem button.

4. click the right arrow at the bottom of the window. This takes you to the Configuration information window. Enter in the top edit box the telephone number that your modem is to call to connect to Prismweb.net. (On the next page, you will find the list of numbers from which to choose.*) Your Username goes into the second edit box, and your password goes into the last box.

5. click the right arrow at the bottom of the window. This takes you to the IP address window. Click no.

6. click the right arrow at the bottom of the window. This takes you to the Domain Names Servers window. Enter the DNS addresses (each consists of a set of four numbers divided into groups: 208.236.175.5 Enter one on the first line, hit return and enter the second address on the second line (208.236.175.248) . Enter the Domain Name (prismweb.net) in the bottom edit box.

7. click the right arrow at the bottom of the window. This takes you to the E-mail address and password window. Enter your e-mail address in the first edit box and your password in the second edit box.

8. click the right arrow at the bottom of the window. This takes you to the E-mail account and host computer window. In the pop account (top edit box), enter pop3.intercom.net. In the SMTP host (bottom edit box), enter mailcity.prismweb.net.

9. click the right arrow at the bottom of the window. This takes you to the Newsgroup Host Computer window. Enter news.prismweb.net.

10. click the right arrow at the bottom of the window. This takes you, finally, to the Conclusion window. Click in the Connect when finished window which will tell your computer to automatically connect to Prismweb.net when you click Go Ahead.
